Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting skin and oral mucosa. DLE is the most common variant of chronic cutaneous lupus comprising 80% of cases. The pathophysiology of the disease is complex and involves multiple factors including genetics, environmental factors and the innate and adaptive immune system. The most common environmental triggers for DLE include UV irradiation, drugs, radiotherapy and smoking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
