Dr Rui Albuquerque completed his undergraduate dental degree in Portugal (2006), his Master’s degree in Oral Medicine (2007) and PhD (2012) in the University of Barcelona. He then moved to the UK, where he completed his specialist training in Oral Medicine in Birmingham. After completing specialist training, Rui was appointed Consultant in Oral Medicine at Guy’s Hospital, London& Honorary clinical Senior Lecturer – King’s college London. His additional clinical duties include the running of multiple general oral medicine clinics and Multidisciplinary clinics where he provides a specialist outpatient service for those with complex oral mucosal disease. Dr Barbara Carey is a Consultant in Oral Medicine at Guy’s Hospital, London. She completed her undergraduate dental degree at University College Cork and undergraduate medical degree at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and worked in a variety of acute hospital and community dental and medical settings prior to relocating to the UK to undertake specialty training. She obtained her Fellowship in Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2018. She has also obtained her Fellowship to the Higher Education Authority (2017). Currently, she is an examiner for ISFE, ORE and MFDS examinations. She is current Treasurer of the British and Irish Society of Oral Medicine and current Region 1 (UK and Ireland) representative of the European Association of Oral Medicine (2018-Present).

Michael Escudier completed undergraduate dental training at Guy’s Dental Hospital (1981-1985). Following general professional training he undertook undergraduate medical studies at St Bartholomew’s Hospital (1987-1992) and completed pre-registration house officer posts (1992-1993).
After returning to King’s College London as a clinical lecturer (1994) he completed a competitively awarded South Thames Research Training Fellowship (1996-1998) on Salivary Lithotripsy for which he received an MD (2010). After obtaining his Fellowship in Dental Surgery (1998) he undertook oral medicine specialist training (1999-2002) and attained his Specialty Fellowship Examination (2002). He was appointed an Honorary Consultant to Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (2003) and Professor or Oral Medicine & Education at King’s College London (2016).
In addition to general oral medicine he has developed and delivers three sub-specialty multi-disciplinary clinical services in salivary gland disease, orofacial granulomatosis and oro-facial pain, which support clinical, translational and discovery science.
Richard Cook qualified BDS Hons from the University of London, Guy’s Hospital in 1989, working for three years as House Surgeon / SHO posts, graduating FDS (Gold Medal) from RCS England in 1993 before taking up his first Lecturer post within the Guy’s Dental School.He then transferred to University of Birmingham to complete his medical degree and after two years of junior medical jobs, completed his MRCS Edinburgh. He returned to the Guy’s Campus of King’s College London to undertake a PhD as an MRC Clinician Scientist, and continued his Oral Medicine training to consultant level, with an NIHR Clinical training Fellowship. Richard’s FDS(OM)RCSEd was awarded in in 2008 and he took up his consultant appointment at Guy’s in 2009, when he also completed his PGCAP, and was awarded FHEA as a consequence. Richard is now Professor/Hon Consultant in Oral Medicine at the Guy’s campus of King’s Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences. and R&D Lead for the Dental Hospital. His research interests encompass education, optics, opto-diagnostics and applications of non-invasive and non-threatening imaging, to human diagnosis and disease / treatment monitoring, with direct applications to pre-malignant / malignant disease.
Saman Warnakulasuriya is emeritus Professor of Oral Medicine and Experimental Pathology at King’s College London. He is the Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Oral Cancer based in the UK. He is a global expert on the epidemiology and risk factors for oral cancer and has conducted demonstration studies on tobacco cessation both in primary care and in specialist clinics.
Dr Selvam Thavaraj was appointed at King’s College London and Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in 2009 following specialist head and neck pathology training. He is part of the histopathology service for one of the largest head and neck cancer treatment centres in the United Kingdom. His research interests include biomarkers in premalignancy and cancer as well as various aspects of microbes in head and neck cancer.
Dr Lisette Collins is a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and Guy’s Hospital, London. She graduated with her Dental Degree in 2012 from Cardiff University and undertook core training in a variety of primary, acute and community placements. She undertook her Speciality Training at Sheffield NHS Foundation Trust, obtaining her Fellowship to the Royal College of Pathologists in 2019. She was appointed to her Consultant position at Guy’s Hospital the same year, where she continues to participate in Undergraduate Teaching at King’s College London as well as speciality training of future pathologists and associated specialties. In addition, she has several research interests, in particular PD-L1 in head and neck cancer.
Alberto Pispero qualified in Dentistry in 2006 and specialized in Oral Surgery in 2009 at the Università degli Studi di Milano. He works as surgeon for the oral medicine service in the Dental School at the university hospital of Milano (Italy) and within private practice as a specialist in Oral Surgery and Implantology. He is Clinical Tutor in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine at the Dental School of the Università degli Studi di Milano. He is author of articles and posters and has presented at national and international conferences.
Giovanni Lodi qualified in Dentistry at the Università degli Studi di Milano in 1991. In 1998 he obtained his PhD from the University of London, and the same year he started to work for the oral medicine service of the dental clinic of the university hospital of Milano (Italy). In 2002 he joined the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry of the Università degli Studi di Milano. He has published about 200 works in the field of oral medicine, evidence based dentistry and special needs.
Niccolò Lombardi graduated in Dentistry in 2011 at the Università degli Studi di Milano (Milan, Italy). In 2015 he completed 3-years postgraduate program as specialist in Oral Surgery at the Università degli Studi di Milano. He is currently at the last year of PhD program in Clinical Research at the Università degli Studi di Milano, working on a research project about oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) and treatment of oral leukoplakias.
He currently works at San Paolo Hospital in Milan in Odontostomatology II unit as full-time senior consultant. He is Clinical Tutor in Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine at the Dental School of the Università degli Studi di Milano and post-graduate Oral Surgery School of the same university. He published articles in international and national peer-reviewed journals in the fields of oral medicine, oral surgery and special needs and has presented works at both national and international conferences.

JC FRICAIN is Doctor of Dental surgery from Bordeaux University (1992), PhD in Biology and Health, (1997), Research Director (2004), Specialist qualified in Oral Surgery (2011). He has been Associate Professor in oral pathology and surgery from 1997 to 2009 and Professor since 2009. He oversees oral bone and soft tissue pathology diagnosis and treatment in the Department of Oral Health at Bordeaux University Hospital, since 1997. He is responsible of oral-mucosal disease consultation in the dermatology department at the University Hospital in Bordeaux since 2000. He is the lead investigator of project INSERM U1026 which is focussed on bone and vascular tissue engineering. His teaching activities deal with oral oncology, oral pathology, bioengineering and bio-printing at dental and medical university.
He has supervised 10 Masters projects and 9 PhDs since 1998. He is a Member of the Executive Committee of the French Society for Oral Surgery and editor in chief of the Journal of Oral Surgery and Oral Medicine (Indexed via Scopus). He is author of 64 publications referenced in PubMed, 90 publications non referenced in PubMed, including textbooks, and more than 300 communications and lectures at dental and medical congresses alongside 3 international patents.
Dr Sylvain Catros graduated as a dentist in 2004 in Bordeaux, France where he subsequently took his internship in Oral Surgery. He also holds a PhD in Biomaterials focused on “Laser Assisted Bioprinting for Bone Tissue Engineering Applications”. Finally, he was a post-doctoral fellow at University of Connecticut Health Center, Farmington, CT, USA.
He is currently an Associate Professor in Oral Surgery at the University of Bordeaux Dental School, France. His clinical activities are focused in Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery.
Dr Mathilde Fénelon performed an internship in Oral Surgery in Toulouse, France and was graduated as an oral surgeon in 2016. She also holds a PhD in Biomaterials focused on the application of amniotic membrane for bone regeneration
She is currently an Associate Professor in Oral Surgery at the University of Bordeaux Dental School, France. Her clinical activities are focused in Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery as well as genetic disorders.
Prof. Vlaho Brailo DMD, PhD., was born in 1977 in Dubrovnik. He graduated from the University of Zagreb School of Dental Medicine in 2002. From 2004 he is employed at the Department of Oral Medicine at the University of Zagreb School of Dental Medicine where he actively participates in clinical, scientific and educational activities. He obtained specialist title in oral medicine in 2010. Prof Brailo authored and co-authored numerous scientific and professional papers and held lectures in international and national professional meetings. He is a member of European association of Oral Medicine, Croatian association of Dental Medicine, Croatian Society of Hospital Dentistry and the president of the Croatian Society for Oral Medicine and Pathology.
Ivana Škrinjar was born in 1981 in Zadar, Croatia. She works as a postdoctoral associate at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb and as an oral medicine specialist at the University Dental Clinic, Clinical Hospital Centre Zagreb, Croatia.
She has published about thirty scientific and professional articles and gave lectures in continuing education courses for doctors of dental medicine and dental assistants. She is a scientific reviewer in leading scientific journals in the field of oral medicine.

Dr. Bozana Loncar Brzak is an oral medicine specialist and works as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Oral Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, Croatia. Her research interest includes diagnosis and management of oral potentially malignant lesions, early detection of oral cancer, salivary gland diseases and chronic inflammatory disease of the oral mucosa (lichen planus, pemphigus, pemphigoid). She is author and co-author of several articles, books and conference papers and a reviewer for internationally peer-reviewed journals in the field of medicine and oral medicine.
Ana Andabak Rogulj was born in 1982 in Zagreb, Croatia. She works as an assistant professor at the Department of oral medicine School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb.

Danica Vidović Juras, DMD, MSc, PhD is an associate professor of oral medicine at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Zagreb, Croatia. She is a specialist in oral medicine/oral pathology, a consultant for medically compromised patients requiring oral/dental care and she provides dental care under general anaesthesia. She participates and presents in the numerous continuing education courses and international conferences. She has published extensively at national and international journals. She is the vice president and a member of the board of directors of the Croatian Society for Oral Medicine and Pathology, Croatian Medical Association and Croatian Association of Hospital Dentistry/Special Care Dentistry. She is also a member of many professional and scientific associations. She has received several honours and awards, including the European Association of Oral Medicine Travel Scholarship Award.
Márcio Diniz Freitas graduated in Dentistry at the University Federal de Pelotas- Brazil, in 1999. Following this, he performed three years (1999-2002) of postgraduate training in Oral Medicine, Oral Surgery and Oral implantology at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), Spain.
In 2005 he obtained a PhD with the Oral Medicine Department of the University of Santiago de Compostela (“Oral squamous cell carcinoma: Assessment of clinical, histological and inmunohistochemical prognostic predictors”).
Since 2010, he has been a member of the research group “Oral Medical-Surgical Research Group” at USC. The main interests of this group center on research of Oral Cancer and precancer.

Jacobo Limeres-Posse graduated in Dentistry at the Santiago de Compostela University (USC), gaining his PhD degree afterwards.
He was the Director of the Stomatology Department, and the Vicedean of Dental Studies in the school of Medicine and Dentistry. At present, he is the Vice-rector for Quality of the USC. He coordinates the “Program for Dental care of severely handicapped patients” developed in the Special Needs Unit of the USC in collaboration with the Galician Healthcare Service. He is also co-director of the Postgraduate course “Master in Dentistry for Medically compromised patients” at the USC. Jacobo the
President of the Spanish Society of Special Care Dentistry between 2013 and 2017 .He has published numerous scientific publications about SCD.
Dr Martins da Silva is a licensed dentist by the Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde Norte (ISCSN). He completed his PhD in Odontology and Medicine from University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain. He also has completed a master’s degree in oral surgery and implantology and a diploma in implantology and forensic dentistry from the University Paul Sabatier – Toulouse III. He has completed an additional master’s degree in sleep medicine from the University Pablo Olavide.
In addition, he holds numerous directorship posts at CESPU and is member of many professional societies focussing on sleep disorders. He is currently an associate professor at the IPSN/CESPU in physiology and lectures in sleep apnoea and other sleep disorders. He plays an active role in administration, research and education at CESPU.
Luis Monteiro has a Dental Medicine Degree (2001) from the IUCS, an MSc in Oncology (2007) from the ICBAS and a PhD (and European PhD) in Pathology and Forensic Sciences (2010) from the USC, Spain. He has completed an additional masters in laser applications in odontostomatology from the University of Parma, Italy and Diploma in Oral Medicine by the European Association of Oral Medicine (EAOM). He is registered specialist in oral surgery in Portugal.
Dr Monteiro is currently an associate professor at the IUCS in Oral Pathology and Bio pathology, director of the oral pathology and rehabilitation research unit at IUCS, Coordinator of the postgraduate course in Laser Applications in Dental Medicine and also Coordinator of the postgraduate course in Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology at IUCS, CESPU.
He is founder and president of Portuguese Society of Oral Laser Applications (SPALO), member of the board of World Federation of Laser in Dentistry – European Division (WFLD-ED), representative member of region 4 of the European Association of Oral Medicine (EAOM) and Member of the Board (vice-president) of the APMO (Portuguese Academy of Oral Medicine).

Dr Vasconcelos completed her undergraduate dental degree and integrated masters degree at the Instituto Universitário de Ciências da Saúde (IUCS) – CESPU. Dr Petros Mylonas is a Clinical Lecturer and Speciality Training Registrar in Restorative Dentistry at Cardiff University, School of Dentistry. Raj Ariyaratnam is a Professor of Dental Education and Global Oral Health and The Academic Lead for Oral Medicine Teaching programme at the University of Manchester in addition to being a practising Specialist in Oral Medicine. He is also the Lead for Social Responsibility (Dentistry) and Global Oral Health Initiatives (GOHI) at the University of Manchester and a Senior Examiner at the Royal College of Surgeons, England.
He lectured in many disciplines including Anatomy, Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Global Health, T&L pedagogies and conducted CPD programmes nationally and internationally and has been invited many times as a guest or a keynote speaker at the national and International Conferences.
He has published widely in peer reviewed Journals and has received many national and international awards for his leadership and innovation in medical – dental education including Service Learning. Recently he has been awarded Fellowships from three different national institutions recognising his significant and sustained contributions to Education and Dentistry.
His proven leadership in organising international CPD programmes has helped him to pioneer and lead GOLF (Global Online Learning Forum) a platform to share knowledge and skills with hundreds of global health care professionals, particularly those from low- and middle-income countries (LMIC). Working in true partnership with colleagues around the world has driven him to build and lead a global team engaging in health-educational empowerment and capacity building among health care professionals.
